... Like if Undertale's FUN Events met the meta-awareness of Doki Doki Literature Club and decided to model themselves off of childhood trauma.
Winchester Filcrow is 31 years old, quietly enduring his job as a quantum physicist in a Bluemoon lab, and realizing more and more every day how much he resents his life. He's just finished creating the Filcrow Interuniversal Travel System, which he thinks could be used as a teleporter to other dimensions. And then he turns 32, and his emotions spill over.
In a fit of desperation, he boots up the FITS and tries to send himself to another world, away from the troubles that plague his current life. The good news is, it doesn't work. The bad news is, the FITS breaks, and now Win sees his alternate selves from other universes, which he refers to as "Shards". He's tasked with reuniting them all before the multiverse collapses.
Thankfully for Win, he finds he's not entirely alone. His colleague Sam Lagounov is more than willing to assist him in his impromptu quest. And now, Win reminisces on his upbringing and how it's led to the situation he's in now.
