Justin Justice Cepoli thinks he's got everything figured out. He's just given himself the name he's always wanted, his job as a guard at the Mapicck Museum is treating him well, and he's just gaining ground on getting over his older sister Maria's death.
But then everything changes one day when a commotion breaks out in the Museum. It's an attack from the Feline Nine Syndicate—a rogue band of cats led by Gorân Island's own prince-consort, Gore Feles. The cats make a hasty retreat with several of Mapicca's most priceless objects.
Eteek O'Cocoon, chief of the long-disgraced Mapicca Official Police Department, arrives just after the FNS leaves. Mistaking Justin for one of her own officers, she gives him less of a suggestion than an ultimatum: the two of them will track down the FNS and return all the stolen items to the Museum.
